Royal Poinciana is a spectacular tree with a “flat” growing canopy, perfect for shade in summer and is semi deciduous in winter so will let light in to you lawn or garden, also will give your property a lovely calm buddhist feel.
If you are looking for a magnificent feature tree or replacement or tropical substitute for a Jacaranda, Poinciana is the one!
Magnificent Fire-Red flowers in warmer months- from seedling stage, Poinciana trees can take 10 years to flower.
Royal Poinciana is is quite a large tree and needs a large root structure to stop it blowing over so needs some room. We have trialed Poinciana trees in Berry on the far South Coast of NSW (2 hours south of Sydney) with great success. Poinciana in the south become almost deciduous in winter but have explosive and beautiful fern-like foliage growth in summer, growing up to 3m in one year!
