European fan palm are a generally unfamiliar palm in Australia which makes them so special.
Requires some room as this palm can claim 2-3m in circumference, however it is easily trimmed so dont let this deter you as its incredible toughness and sculptural form make up for it.
European fan palms will tolerate any heat or cold that Australia has to offer, it just loves our conditions! I have heard stories of this plant tolerating open frost conditions to -20 degrees celcius.
Chamaerops has fantastic use as a standalone feature plant or even as a border or scattered through a garden.
It is very a “botanically beautiful” plant and will just about suit in any garden style whatsoever.
European Fan Palms are extremely slow growing so are often not available, large specimens of 2+ metres can fetch $3000+
