Description
Qld spear Lilly is a stunning strappy leafed Lilly that adds dramatic lush green foliage to any garden, however it does require some room (2-3m).
It flowers a huge red spike which often hangs to the side due to the incredible weight.
Apart from their attractive appearance, Doryanthes flowers encourage many Australian native birds and bees, however the plant is attractive itself even without the flower!
landscape uses of The Spear Lilly are suited to “Bulking” a large space with some mass upright foliage, high wind areas or large properties that need some visual appeal and or erosion control.
It will thrive in poor soil with minimal care and will look even better when given some attention. In its natural habitat (northern NSW and QLD) it grows in poor depleted soils that regularly suffer drought and bushfires.
