Phylostachys ‘nigra’

Running Black Bamboo (Phylostachys ‘nigra’) is is the only running plant we keep and only do so because of its huge demand in Sydney.

Growing to 4 metres tall if not trimmed, this plant is invasive and not recommended for planting in the ground unless well contained. However in pots or planters it looks amazing!

It will easily handle full sun, wind, even snow on it! Leaves will brown on the ends if it dries out even once so must be irrigated during dry periods.
